Panthers Continue Winning Streak Against the Wolves
Nouvel Catholic Central’s varsity football team hit the road for their season opener, but the long trip was well worth it as they came away with a solid 28-14 victory over the Sandusky Wolves on Thursday. This win continues a pattern of success for the Panthers, who also defeated Sandusky in their previous matchup back in August 2021.
The game was marked by a strong all-around effort from Nouvel, who controlled the pace and executed on both sides of the ball. While Sandusky put up a fight, it was the Panthers who capitalized on key plays to secure the win. On the opposing side, Sandusky’s Daniel Tovar was a standout, racking up 133 receiving yards, including a remarkable 77-yard touchdown reception that kept the Wolves in the game. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome Nouvel’s steady performance.
Nouvel’s defense held firm, keeping Sandusky’s offense in check for much of the night, while the Panthers’ offense found the end zone multiple times to establish a comfortable lead. The win gives Nouvel a strong start to the season and helps build confidence as they look to continue their success.
The Panthers will return home for their next matchup against Onsted, which kicks off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. They will aim to break a three-game home losing streak that dates back to last season. Meanwhile, Sandusky will hit the road again, traveling to face Marlette on Friday at 7:00 p.m., looking to bounce back from this season-opening defeat.
