Panthers Dominate Both Sides of the Ball in Home Opener

Nouvel Catholic Central secured a commanding 28-6 victory over Onsted in their home opener, with standout performances on both offense and defense leading the way. After a close loss to Onsted last season, the Panthers left nothing to chance this time, using a balanced attack and tenacious defense to control the game from start to finish.

John Carlson was a force to be reckoned with, running 14 times for 92 yards and two touchdowns, propelling Nouvel’s offense to an early lead. Carlson’s impact was just as strong on the defensive side of the ball, where he racked up six tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and a key fumble recovery. His all-around performance set the tone for Nouvel’s dominance throughout the game.

Quarterback Ian Ziegelmann contributed both through the air and on the ground, completing 4 of 7 passes for 86 yards, including a touchdown pass to Parker Kingsbury. Ziegelmann also added 60 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, keeping Onsted’s defense off balance. Running back Owen Vance chipped in with 87 yards on 11 carries, providing a strong complement to Nouvel’s potent ground attack.

Parker Kingsbury not only hauled in the touchdown pass but also kicked three extra points, and his defensive prowess shone through with a timely interception. Nouvel’s defense, led by Carlson and Kingsbury, stifled Onsted’s offense, allowing just one score and preventing any chance of a comeback.

With the win, Nouvel Catholic Central improves to 2-0 on the season, showcasing their ability to execute on both sides of the ball. The Panthers will look to carry their momentum into the next game as they continue their pursuit of a strong season.
