Space travel was always a rather interesting and constantly debated topic. There are plenty of good things that could happen like new opportunities to research new life, learn about other planets, and developing new technology. There are consequences that we all should take into consideration so we can proceed with caution as it is unknown what could be out there. This is a very important list as space travel is not very easy and if you are planning to apply for space travel through an agency like NASA, then you should consider these consequences so you are prepared.

  1. Discovering a new world with a new civilization. If this new world has life, then it can be worthwhile to study, but finding a civilization beyond our world would require a lot of caution as they might not know who you are. The best thing to do is nothing that would provoke them as they possibly would take action if they see that there is a spacecraft that is a potential enemy. The good news is there is a fair chance that they would not respond because since we are still trying to advance our technology, that previously unknown civilization may have technology way beyond our’s in terms of years, possibly in the billions.

  1. That new world may have very dangerous life unlike our own. It is mostly known that we have plenty of dangerous life here on Earth such as bears and lions, but any new life could be dangerous and even more because we do not exactly know for sure. Nothing is known at this point yet, but it is better to be even more cautious when finding life we do not know.

  1. The planet that you discover could have dangerous conditions. It is not known what dangerous conditions are beyond our solar system, but an example of what most astronomers know is that one of the planets near Earth is similar in size, but is a lot more dangerous which is known as Venus. The conditions on that planet are very hazardous and would be way too dangerous for space exploration. Another example is that if a planet is bigger, it will have greater amounts of gravity. The largest known planet in our solar system is Jupiter, which has a lot of gravity that could make it difficult for the spacecraft to slow the landing. It would be better to study earth like planets since even though they are not as large, it would be safer due to less gravity.

  1. A chance that you might get lost. Getting lost is possible, even in space as there is a lot to discover beyond our world and it may take a while before you could communicate with any contacts that are supposed to keep an eye on where you are in space. The good news is that new technology could be developed so that it is easier to determine where you are so that you are not lost. This however may take awhile, so we may have to wait and see what NASA scientists come up with.
  2.  That new civilization that was previously unknown could discover our world, Earth. If the civilization was able to follow us, then they may discover Earth. This idea is no doubt open to skepticism which is fine, but it is not impossible. The good thing is that they most likely would not respond as there are plenty of planets that are not inhabited by civilizations and the technology is way beyond what Earth has

Space travel is well debated and the idea of civilizations beyond our own is okay to skepticize, but it could be possible, but it is not known. You can let us know what you think could be the future of space travel and whether or not that unknown civilizations could be out there.
