OutKast is one of the biggest and influential rap group of all time, the group consists of André 3000 (André Lauren Benjamin) and Big Boi (Antwan André Patton). They have has so many both chart topping singles and album from rap to R&B. We will be looking at their top music from Their first album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik made it to 20 on Billboard 200 and number 3 on Billboard Top R&B Albums and their last album, Idlewild went gold in Canada and platinum in the US. I made a summer playlist on Spotify and had some Outkast songs so I thought I would write about them so here it is the Top 5 Best OutKast Songs.

5. Elevators (ATLiens-1996)

Elevators was the group’s highest peaking song till the release of Mrs. Jackson in peaked at number twelve United States Billboard Hot 100, five on United States Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and number fifty nine U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for the year, it also was certified gold in United States. The song is called Elevators and the only way rao musicians use elevators as an analogy is when the are talking about how they are rising in the game, charts, and in terms of money and that’s what they are talking about in the song which is very one dimensional for Outkast they are usually more lyrical talking about real stuff not bragging.

4. So Fresh, So Clean (Stankonia-2000)

In this hot song featured Sleepy Brown and was an immediate success it unfortunately did not get certified gold or up but it made it on many charts such as forty six in Australia, forty five Austria, number six and five in Belgium, sixty two in Netherlands, forty six in New Zealand, forty seven in Sweden, forty one in Switzerland, sixteen in United Kingdom, and thirty, thirteen and ten in United Kingdom. So Fresh, So Clean is about how fresh and clean they look or to put in more relevant terms how much swag they have they wear, breathe, eat, and spew swag.

3. Roses (Speakerboxxx/The Love Below-2003)

Roses is about a girl named Caroline who very beautiful but has a horrible personality and is a golddigger, that’s what he means when he says “just get a little bit closer see, roses really smell like, poo-ooo-ooo” he saying if she really took a look at herself she would realise she is a horrible person but here ego and arrogance are blocking her from doing so. It did pretty well on the charts it went forteen in Argentina, eighteen and two in Australia, forty seven and ten in Belgium, fifteen in Turkey, twenty one in Germany, six in Netherlands, five in New Zealand, nine in Norway, sixty five in Switzerland, four and three in United Kingdom, twelve nine seven two and one in United States.

2. Ms. Jackson (Stankonia-2000)

According to genius’ user SadChild “the song was written about Andre 3000’s real-life struggle with Erykah Badu and her mother over his and Badu’s child born out of wedlock. Big Boi called the song “very heartfelt”. The name Jackson was chosen because the pair felt it “is such a common name.” It one one grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, it made its way onto twenty five weekly charts twenty four of which were in the top ten, in year end charts it got seventeen in Australia, twenty one in Austria, twenty eight and twenty one in Belgium, twelve in Germany, fifty in Netherlands, fifteen in Sweden, twenty four in Switzerland, forty three in United Kingdom, and twenty five in United States. Roses also got certified Gold in New Zealand and United States it also got certified Platinum in Australia and United Kingdom.

Hey Ya! (Speekerboxxx/The Love Below-2003)

This song was something special for the group instead of pertomenty rapping Andre 3000 went out on a limb and started singing at it worked! It won Video of the Year at the BET Awards, Best Urban/Alternative Performance at the Grammys, Best Song and Best Video at MTV Europe Music Awards, Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction at MTV Video Music Award, Outstanding Duo or Group at NAACP Image Awards, and Best Video of the Year at Soul Train Music Awards. The song is a feel good song dance about just having fun and a good time but when making it he said he was terrified because everyone has to look all hard in the rap game and he is out there singing.
