A Perfect Prom Dinner

Natalie Rood, Community, Staff Writer

With prom approaching faster than ever, it can be hard to get all your ducks in a row to be prepared for your special day. Not only is there all the stressors that come with prom, you have everything else going on with your life too! School, work, family; there is a lot going on in our lives during this time of year. With everything else going on, prom shouldn’t be another annoyance in your life. One of the biggest stressors that comes with prom is picking out a restaurant to eat at. While it seems like an easy choice, there are so many factors that can ruin the seemingly perfect prom restaurant. The restaurant could not take reservations, or have a bad rating, or even too overpriced. Even something as simple as a bad location could ruin a great restaurant. When selecting a restaurant you also have to factor in everyone in your group. Allergies and food aversions within your prom group can make finding a place to eat seem impossible. However, this seemingly impossible task is totally doable with the great variety of restaurants that we have surrounding us!

Farrelli’s: Located right in downtown Sumner, Farrelli’s is a great choice for those who want to stay close for eating for prom. Not only is the restaurant close and convenient, Farrelli’s has a menu with a wide array of options that even the pickiest eater is able to find a suitable meal.

The Old Spaghetti Factory: Who wouldn’t want a three course meal on prom night? The Old Spaghetti Factory is perfect for larger groups who want to be treated like royalty! It also is located very close to the prom venue which makes it a perfect restaurant for those who don’t want to deal with a lot traffic on the way prom and for those who want to eat a little later into the night but still make it to the dance on time!

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse: Everyone’s favorite restaurant is a clear choice for a great prom dinner! There’s a little something for everyone at BJ’s, and they also accommodate for larger parties. Plus, BJ’s is home of the famous Pizookie which will make a sweet ending to your prom dinner.

Duke’s Seafood & Chowder: While it may be more the pricey side, Duke’s Seafood & Chowder is any seafood lovers dream! Duke’s is on the water as well which makes it even more perfect for prom. The price may be a little up there, but you’re paying for the freshest seafood in a beautiful location. Also, it’s prom! Treat yourself!

Picking a restaurant is only half the battle. To make things easier on yourself, call the restaurant with your reservations as soon as possible! No matter if you have two people in your group or twenty, it’s always a good call to get a reservation. Also, figure out carpooling plans among your group before dinner time to make the night go as smooth as possible. It’s also a good call to have an idea of who is sitting next to who at dinner to avoid that awkward silence when your group is brought to your table.
