Aakil Wasson, Staff Writer

Kendrick Lamar has showed time and time again that he his songs are fire a very diverse fire, he can tell stories, rap about how awesome he is, rap about real word stuff and they all are well thought out powerful songs that don’t seem to age. From his songs The Art Of Peer Pressure to Backseat Freestyle and to Swimming Pools he just knows how to captivate his audience and paint a very vivid picture of what he is rapping. He has many hit singles and hit albums so we are going to go through his best chart topping records of his music career to date, so without further due.

5. Kings Dead

Kings Dead is a single from his compilation album Black Panther, the single has three other artist Jay Rock, Future, and James Blake where they rap about both the Black Panther movie plot (Kendrick was really the only one who did so) and about raps cliches money, murder, sex, and drugs. The song hit 21 on US Hot 100, 13 on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, 33 US Rhythmic, and made it on many other top charts in other countries like Australia, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and even made it to number one on Sweden Heatseeker. Kings Dead also got certified platinum in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

4. All The Stars

All The Stars is also from the Black Panther album he and SZA talk about how they deal with love and fame. Stars are also close to Kendrick Lamar’s heart because he said if he was not a rapper he would be an astrologist. This song hit above number 10 in fourteen different countries and hit number 1 in Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, and Slovakia. It ways also certified gold in Belgium, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, and United Kingdom, it went platinum in both New Zealand and it was also certified two time platinum in Australia, Canada, and United States.

3. i

According to one Genius’ editors @PabloOrozco he says “The “i” is supposed to represent Kendrick’s personality, the song is mainly about spreading around a strong and positive message. It is very much about loving yourself and who you stand as a person, but also not worrying about what others think about you.” The I can also be interpreted in a different way by being the counterpart to Kendrick Lamar’s song “u” which is about negativity and the negative thoughts that are always in his mind. “i” made it onto fifteen different charts in ten different countries like United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, and Netherlands. Even though being his third best song it was only certified silver in the United Kingdom

2. Pray For Me

Pray For Me is also from his Black Panther album and features The Weeknd and the sing about having to make sacrifices, being loyal, and redemption taking the role of being the hero and using the feeling T’Challa (the main protagonist of the Black Panther movie and comics) as he progress in the movie and has to bare the weight of being the king of his country. Pray For Me on a whopping thirty eight charts in twentyseven different countries! This song was certified gold in Australia and New Zealand, Silver in United Kingdom and platinum in United States.

1. Humble

Humble is really only about Kendrick challenging his competition and saying he is better than them. The video has a lot of religious references like him dressing as the pope and him reenacting the last supper with him as Jesus. The video and song has won many award, it was nominated for twenty five awards and has won thirteen of those awards including Video of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Top Streaming Song of the twenty five though two are still pending so he may have won fifteen awards but time will only tell. The song was on forty eight different chart in twenty six different countries, it was also certified gold in Germany, platinum in Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Portugal, and Sweden, 3 time platinum is New Zealand, 4x platinum in Australia, and 7x platinum in Canada and United States.

So there you have it Kendrick Lamar’s top song all the way up to his most latest album Black Panther. Kendrick is a very talented artist and everyone is very interested in seeing how far he will go in his professional music career.
