Weekend Road Trip

Paige Thomas, Section Editor

This upcoming weekend is supposed to be nice and sunny, getting almost as hot at 80 degrees. Don’t waste this weather being inside, take a weekend road trip with some friends and see what the northern part of Washington has to offer.

Day 1- On the first day start the trip by heading up towards Port Angeles. on your way make sure you stop at the Sequim Lavender Farm. This farm is filled with beautiful lavender bushes which makes it for an epic photo op. The next stop is Hurricane Ridge. Hurricane Ridge is named because of the intense winds you can experience. There are places for having a picnic and small little 1 mile hikes you can go on. After taking a lunch break at Hurricane Ridge head up to Marymere Falls. Marymere falls is a small 90ft waterfall at the end of a small 1 mile dirt trail. After this beautiful stop, end your day camping at Lake Crescent.

Day 2-  Day two start your day out with a small hike to Sol Duc Falls to see an old forest with a waterfall at the end. Then after the morning hike head up towards Forks Washington and enjoy time in the little town. Then end the day in La Push Washington where you can enjoy a nice West Coast sunset on the beach.

Day 3-  On the last day of the road trip start out at the Hoh Rain Forest one of the few Rainforests in Washington. After the Hoh Rain Forest head towards Ruby Beach, this is the northernmost beach in Washington. It’s called Ruby Beach due to the little crystals in the sand. Very last stop is Quinault Rainforest, this is another rainforest that everyone has to see because it is so beautiful.

Going on this weekend road trip around the Olympic Peninsula will really show you how beautiful the West Coast really is. Take a weekend trip, grab your bestfriends and go on this trip.
