Congressional Art Competition Participation Award

Yesterday the Congressional Art Competition was held at the Arts Alive! Center of the Arts. Seven of our Advanced Drawing and Painting students submitted a piece into the competition. Unfortunately none of our students won, but the opportunity to participate was a win in itself.

An oil painting submitted into the Congressional Art Competition by Issaquah High School student, Alice Mao.

“Arts Alive!” is located in Enumclaw. And given how cute of a town Enumclaw is, you can just imagine how cute this place is. You see all types of art, ranging from watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings, to blown glass art and handcrafted jewelry, and windchimes, all of which made by a large variety of age groups.

They also host many art classes. They host children’s oil & acrylic painting classes, adult oil & acrylic painting classes, watercolor classes, and twisted wire classes. Not only that, they provide open studios for your personal art projects! The classes are not free, but absolutely affordable and worth it.

And if you’re looking to buy some original paintings, there are tons of gallery artists that sell their pieces through Arts Alive!

If this interests you, check out the Arts Alive! website (http://www.plateauartsalive.org/classes.html) for more information, including more about the class prices and hours. And make a trip to their shop (Address: 1429 Cole Street, Enumclaw, WA 98022), it’s adorable, and for many aspiring artists, this place will feel like a second home.
