Time to lose weight

Levi Hornbuckle, Staff Writer

We’ve all been there, Sore from the last session not wanting to go to the gym and work out. Weather it was leg day or maybe your chest feels like it’s going to cave in because you did burnouts for the last set the truth is you need rest days. I’m not talking days or weeks at a time i’m saying take one or two days out of the week to stay home and relax. When it comes to taking a rest day there are some very important rules to follow. Just because it’s a rest day doesn’t mean you get to sit back and smother yourself in food, its a rest day not a cheat day. So what that means is it is really important that you hydrate and get the carbs and proteins your body needs to get to recover and say healthy. Eat and drink lots of water, lean meats, beans and vegetables. On your rest days your body is taking everything you are eating and rebuilding your muscle so you want them to take in healthy positive things that will make them feel better and recover faster. IF you treat your rest day like a cheat day and just eat fast food and ice cream your body is going to take that and cycle it through and it’s going to store excess fat that it can’t process. That is where you see weight gain granted there are some people with a super fast metabolism that can process this diets like this and have it not affect their body but those people are usually rare. Rest days are really important because they give your body time to repair  tendons, joints and muscles.

My own experience is not so great with this. I still have to work on a lot of it because most of the time I am that person that on there rest day eat the things they shouldn’t and because of it my progress is stunted. I don’t get the gains I want and that I have work so hard for when. when actually all i have to do is put my mind to it. It’s like a off brand light bulb that burns out super quick and you have to keep on replacing it my energy and passion is there and present one second and then I lose the motivation to show up at the gym. It is the small things in life that you have to work on like consistency. People say it’s such a big commitment but its only as big as you make it, and it can be as easy as you want it to be.  So right now if you think its super hard just believe in yourself because it is possible if you want it. I am making the commitment right now publicly to commit myself to better health and to stop doing the things that hinder those abilities and I encourage you to do the same.
